The Austrian and Hungarian girls/women’s cricket squads will be regularly training together this summer as both develop their teams and skills. Claudia Balogh (Hungary) and Andrea Mae-Zepeda (Austria), the two respective captains and leaders, recently returned form playing in a tournament in Italy, but this Saturday more of the squads will be involved as they combine to play in a Charity Fund raising tournament in Budapest to raise money for the Nepal Earthquake victims.
This combining of the Hungarian and Austrian squads in training and playing is the first of a planned set of get-togethers through the summer, aiming to raise the standard of all concerned. Part of the plan is to invite female cricketers from all neighbouring countries for a weekend in July/August in Vienna, to have a Cricketing Women’s Weekend! More details to follow.
The tournament this Saturday has been organised by the Hungarian Cricket Association – https://www.facebook.com/events/395620593976539/ – with Steve Anthony leading the way for this excellent venture. We wish them all the best and lots of fun on Saturday!
